COMMUNICATING THROUGH ORAL PRESENTATIONS

This presentation discusses a parking assistant mobile app called Find Your Spot. This is a project that I  created for my ITEC 201 course during my first semester as a Senior. It offers a solution for parking garages that are on excessive demand at Towson University, one of the biggest problems this institution is facing. I presented this project to the class to show how this app can help students and staff decrease the waiting time period at parking lots by seeing the availability of free parking spaces within any of the university’s garages through a smartphone.

The creation and public presentation of this project allowed me to communicate to professors and classmates how technology, design, and human creativity can fusion together to solve common issues. Find Your Spot is among the best works I have done throughout my college career. It gave me the opportunity to present a work that can make a positive impact among the lives of thousands of students, as well as to use my communication and design skills to get the message across during a presentation. My work was selected as the best one of the class, and the project is now used by the professor as a example to set new standards for the semesters to come.

This experience helped me reaffirm how communication skills can help me get my point across in a professional way at any situation. The successful execution of this presentation shows that I am able to plan, act effectively, and explain my actions in a coherent and appealing way; a skill that is highly important in every workplace.
